| BURNING TIPS |
- Remove all packaging before lighting.
- Always burn candles on a heat-resistant surface.
- Keep burning candles away from flammable objects
such as curtains and walls.
- Keep burning candles out of reach of pets
and children.
- Trim the wick to 1/4" before burning.
- Avoid burning candles in a draft.
- Do not leave burning candles unattended.
- If the flame begins to smoke, extinguish candle,
trim the wick and make sure wax pool is free of debris, and re-light.
- Always burn votive candles in a holder. They
are not meant to burn freestanding.
- Discard container if it is cracked or chipped.
- Handle containers with care, as they may
get very hot as the candle burns.
- Discontinue use
when 1/2" of wax remains. If the candle burns all the way
to the end, a glass container may get too hot, and break.
- If the edges of a container candle become
blackened, wipe the inside with a dry paper towel after the candle
has cooled. Keeping the wick trimmed to 1/8" to 1/4"
will help keep it from become black again.
- Extinguish the candle when the wax pool
nears the edges, and wait for the candle to harden before re-lighting.
This will keep the candle from dripping, and leave a nice glowing
shell.
- When burning multiple candles, don't place
them too close together. The heat from one could soften the side
of another.
- To avoid fading or melting, store candles
in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or fluorescent
light.
- To get more burn time out of your pillar
candles, refrigerate them before use. If you are going to store
them in the fridge for extended periods, to prevent the wick from
absorbing moisture, wrap them in foil or plastic.
- If your candles become dusty or dirty, simply
wipe them with a piece of nylon. (Finally, a use for that odd knee-high!)
